Head of Accounts (Remote)

Salary: R45 000 - R60 000 per month

Our client, an established international e-commerce business operating across the medical and pharmacy sectors, is looking for a Head of Accounts to join their team on a full-time, remote 6 to 12-month fixed-term contract (maternity cover). Reporting directly to the CFO, you will oversee day-to-day financial operations across both divisions, manage a small accounts team, and ensure smooth cashflow, timely supplier payments, and accurate reporting.

What you will do:

- Oversee day-to-day financial operations for both the medical and pharmacy divisions while managing a small team of three accounts staff.

- Approve daily e-commerce backend payments, track incoming bank payments, and reconcile orders in Xero.

- Manage daily bank reconciliations, import file creation, and statement processing.

- Prioritise and process daily supplier payments based on available cash flow, operational urgency, and cut-off times.

- Prepare key weekly reports, including cashflow position statements, 15-week cashflow forecasts, weekly profitability analyses, and sales reporting.

- Manage month-end financial processes, including sales figure reporting, commission calculations, and credit account customer statements.

- Administer monthly payroll, issue payslips via cloud payroll software, and process payments for internal staff and external contractors.

What we are looking for:

- At least 3 to 5 years of progressive experience in accounting, bookkeeping, and financial management roles.

- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a small finance team effectively.

- Solid, hands-on experience using Xero accounting software and online banking platforms.

- Strong expertise in cashflow management, budgeting, financial reporting, and supplier payment prioritisation.

- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills for financial modelling, reconciliation, and reporting.

- Exceptional attention to detail with the discipline to consistently meet daily, weekly, and monthly deadlines.

- Strong written communication skills to report to executive management and build relationships with suppliers and clients.

Nice to have:

- Previous experience within e-commerce, pharmacy, or medical supply sectors.

- Familiarity with multi-currency banking and international trade platforms.
